things are about to get a lot more luxurious in the metaverse. announced back in January, Gucci’s hotly-anticipated collaboration with SUPERPLASTIC has been fully unveiled. aptly dubbed the “SUPERGUCCI” NFT collection, here’s everything that you need to know about the fashionable figurines.
While Gucci is at the forefront of high fashion, SUPERPLASTIC leads the way when it comes to vinyl toys. famous for their Janky and Guggimon characters, they’ve now brought them into another dimension with a vast range of NFTs. part of a three-part drop, each one incorporates house codes found in the Gucci Aria collection, and will come accompanied by a physical ceramic sculpture which is handmade in Italy and co-designed by Gucci and SUPERPLASTIC. only 500 of these were made, adding to the exclusivity of the collaboration.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that the Italian fashion house has unleashed a virtual product. Back in may last year, they released the Gucci virtual 25 sneaker that can be “worn” in augmented reality or used in partnered apps like Roblox and VRChat. Surprisingly, unlike their physical pairs, the virtual 25 was pretty well-priced at just $12.99. with that said, unsurprisingly, these sold out like hotcakes when they launched.
